Carmine Di Noia leaves Consob, where he is commissioner and should have remained for the whole of 2022, and arrives at the OECD where he will be the new Director of Financial and Business Affairs. Di Noia will leave Consob on 7 February and will be at the OECD from 23 February. His mandate in Consob would have expired at the beginning of 2023.
Di Noia, previously Deputy General Manager of Assonime, had been in the predicament in recent months of becoming the new president of ESMA, the European Markets Authority: for professional merits he was placed in first place but for political reasons the position was finished to the German Verena Ross.
The appointment to the OECD, which took place through public selection, therefore sounds like a well-deserved redemption for a civil servant of undoubted value and appreciated by all.
