Research conducted by foodora reveals the increased attitude of students to order their favorite dishes around the world. Asian cuisine is absolutely number one globally, with 29% of total orders – at the Finnish Hanken School of Economics the percentage even rises to 44%. The only exception in Italy. In Rome, the winner is pizza (34%) like that of La Pariolina.
In second place with 25% of total orders we find the hamburgers also awarded by young Romans (12%) - if we consider the customized "create your own burger" method like that of Meat Market - in an alternation that includes local tradition and street food.
On the podium of the most clicked kitchens, Italian cuisine could not be missing, third classified with an average of orders equal to 14% globally, and which reaches 21% for example in Berlin where the students of the Universität der Kunste go crazy for salads and pasta. Different third place also in Rome, where the sushi is positioned (9%), such as that of Sushi & Noodles.
The survey also reveals the willingness to spend of young people in the various countries: 73% of students pay more than 20 euros for a single food delivery order. In some cities, such as Oslo, the percentage of high spenders is growing. They are 33% of students willing to spend more than 50 euros.
Not just food. According to research, 75% of world students also order a drink together with their favorite dish. In Vienna and Berlin, on average, one beer is ordered for every 3 orders. The Dutch, on the other hand, love smoothies. In Rome, soft drinks win.
The survey also revealed what times students prefer to eat. If dinner is usually between 6 and 8 in the evening, in Berlin, Paris and Rome students like to have lunch between 12-13. Students in Vienna, on the other hand, only get their "first bite" of the day in the late morning by ordering breakfast between 10 and noon.
In Rome the preferred day to order seems to be Saturday, as well as in Stockholm. Sunday is the perfect time in Amsterdam, Helsinki, Oslo, Paris, Sydney and Vienna, while Berlin and Toronto students tend to order more on some weekdaysespecially on Tuesdays and Fridays respectively.
