After an unstable and at times capricious spring, theItaly prepares to live a bridge of the 2 June with a decidedly strong flavour Summer. The latest uncertainties weather are about to give way to sunny days and temperatures in sharp rise, thanks to the arrival of an African anticyclone ready to bring the first real heat of the season. The maximum values will locally exceed 30°C, especially in the inland areas of the Center-North, in the Po Valley and in the Tyrrhenian regions. The sun will also return to the South, with weather conditions significantly improving and seas progressively decreasing in wave motion. The winds will ease, leaving room for a more stable and dry climate. But be careful of the North part, where the anticyclonic shield could give way. On Sunday 1st June and Monday 2nd June, cooler currents descending from Northern Europe could trigger strong thunderstorms, initially on the Alps and then also on Piedmont e Lombardia, especially in the afternoon and evening hours. Hailstorms and gusts of wind are also possible, typical of post-heatwave thermal contrasts.
Weekend Weather: Heat Rises and First Heat Storms in the Alps
Saturday May 31th stable weather conditions are confirmed over most of the Italian territory, but in the afternoon there will be no shortage of classic heat storms over the Alpine and pre-Alpine areas of Piedmont and Lombardy. The increase in heat and humidity in the lower layers will favor the development of local showers, typical of this transition phase towards summer.
Le temperature maximum temperatures will rise sharply across the Peninsula, thanks also to the weakening of the mistral winds. The highest values are expected in the Tyrrhenian regions and on the major islands, with peaks exceeding 30-32°C in Sardinia and western Sicily. Campania, Lazio and Tuscany will see temperatures between 28 and 30 degrees, while in the Centre-North they will settle between 26 and 28°C. Temperatures in Puglia will be more moderate, but still mild, between 24 and 26°C.
With the official start of meteorological summer, Sunday 1st June will be dominated by the North African high pressure, which will ensure good weather conditions stable and sunny weather over much of Italy. The skies will be clear or partly cloudy, while temperatures will continue to rise, bringing a summery climate, often muggy, especially in the northern plains.
However, there will be some exception: in the afternoon isolated thunderstorms could develop on the mountains of North part, in particular among the Central-Eastern Alps and the Prealps, typical of the hottest days.
Weather Monday 2nd June: some thunderstorms in the North, sun and heat in the Centre-South
For the Republic Day bridge, Monday 2 June, a slight weakening of the high pressure is expected over the northern regions. This will favor an increase in instability during the afternoon hours along the Alpine and pre-Alpine arc, with possible showers and thunderstorms.
In the rest of the country, however, the the sun will reign supreme, offering warm, sunny days, with temperatures above the seasonal average and an ideal climate for the first summer outings.
