FiberCop's backbone is the spine on which digital Italy rests. It's the backbone that supports our daily online traffic: a streaming movie, a payment, a video call.
A fully owned backbone
It extends across the entire national territory, from North to South to the islandsIt collects the POPs, the Points of Presence from which fiber reaches homes, and connects them to the major interchange nodes with the global network and to over 30 data centers of international content and connectivity providers. It enables communication between the parts of the FiberCop infrastructure with 28 million kilometers of optical fiber. Its core is four "super core" nodes, two in Milan and two in Rome, from which traffic branches out to the metropolitan networks and even to the more peripheral areas.
Its management also makes use of systems of artificial intelligence, which select the best routes in real time, redistribute the load, and prevent disruptions before they occur. Overall, the infrastructure is designed to grow with data demand and uses state-of-the-art equipment designed to reduce consumption.
