Ferragamo invest in Brunello. The Borro Tuscany, the estate of Ferruccio Ferragamo's family, has acquired thePinino winery, located in the renowned area of Montalcino. This is a "strategic" operation that allows Borro Wines to add another 16,24 hectares of vineyard and to expand its range with three new labels of Brunello di Montalcino Docg, thus strengthening its position in the high-end wine sector , already competitive with other great Tuscan families such as Antinori and Frescobaldi.
Ferragamo's new bet
La Pinino estate, in fact, includes 21 total hectares, of which 16,24 hectares are dedicated to vineyards, with 7,67 hectares dedicated to Brunello, 5,42 hectares to Rosso di Montalcino and 3,15 hectares to Sangiovese di Sant'Antimo. This acquisition increases Il Borro's overall viticultural heritage to 84 hectares, also allowing the range of labels to be expanded. A fundamental element of the investment decision is the annual production of approximately 80 thousand bottles, including a significant quantity of Brunello di Montalcino, which will be added to the collection of Ferragamo wines.
The company underlines that the acquisition of Pinino is part of a growth path for Il Borro Toscana, which includes not only wine production but also agritourism that combines oil, horticulture, honey, sheep's eggs and cheeses, with a hospitality and catering both growing in 2023.
