Giuseppe Salvador from Martellago (VE) born in 1972, shareholder in a flooring company is the 2022 Tiramisù World Cup Champion, the "most gluttonous challenge of the year" which involved hundreds of amateur chefs from all over Italy which ended in Treviso. Salvador triumphed for the original recipe (eggs, sugar, mascarpone, ladyfingers, coffee and cocoa). After six years of participation in the TWC, Salvador did it by overcoming Cristina Malizia of Bologna and Alessandra Vendemmiati of Venice in the final and dedicated the victory to his friend Marco Zago, who passed away prematurely: «Everything that will come from this win will go to the association "Marco's hope" that we founded for him. It will be used to buy defibrillators and life-saving tools ».
Ha only 18 years old Marina Summa di Cerano (NO) graduated TWC 2022 Champion in the "creative" category. Student conquered everyone with her recipe made of Sicilian cannoli wafers, candied orange peel and pistachios. «I dedicate the victory to myself – said the girl – I am passionate, Sicilian cannoli and tiramisu are my favorite desserts».
Always for the creative recipe, second place for Silvia Vian with her mint syrup, pistachio paste, After Eight; to her also the Award of "La Cucina Italiana", presented by the journalist Laura Forti. Third place for Francesca Gaiotto from Treviso with a Tiramisu created with gorgonzola, walnuts and figs.
Finally, the finalists Cristina Malizia and Francesca Gaiott won the prize for the most beautiful Tiramisu "Beautydrop".
«We wanted to make the TWC grow and we succeeded – commented Francesco Redi, organizer of the event, at the end of the review -. I thank the partners, the public and all those who came to visit us in these days. It was a great celebration for Treviso». In the new orangerie set up for the occasion in the Loggia dei Cavalieri, in Piazza dei Signori, where it was possible to taste the Tiramisù dei Campioni of past editions, more than ten thousand portions of the popular dessert were sold. Participants, non-professionals, train all year round for this event, who in the original recipe spoon dessert (eggs, sugar, mascarpone, ladyfingers, coffee and cocoa), chi nella creative recipe (with the possibility of adding up to three ingredients and replacing the biscuit).
To crown this year's Champions, the president of the Jury, Laura Forti of “La Cucina Italiana”, the historic gastronomic magazine active since 1929, media partner of the entire event, which also awarded the Special Prize for the Best Tiramisù 2022. The winners of the TWC 2022 will now see their recipes published in the masthead for the November issue, as well as receive digital coverage on the website and social networks. «Tiramisù – said Maddalena Fossati, director of La Cucina Italiana – is one of the recipes that best represents our Italy in the world and the Tiramisù World Cup sums up its values and potential. So let's add another piece to the candidacy project of Italian home cooking as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, promoted by our magazine since 2020.
