Popular banks, signs of growth in 2017

Funding concentrated in the North West. Approximately 25% of loans went to consumer households, while 60% was absorbed by businesses. Popolare di Sondrio and Bari the two best local banks in 2017

In 2017, credit to the real economy of cooperative banks reached the figure of 200 billion
euro with a growth of 2% in just one month, involving a large part of the territory
.

Driving the recovery are the regions of northwest which concentrate 48% of the loans, followed by those of North East coast with 18%; 22% of credit is centralized in the central regions and 12% in the South and Islands. Approximately 25% of the loans went to consumer households, while 60% was absorbed by businesses, of which 40% were small-medium sized companies which represent the largest share of the reference customers of Credito Popolare.

Also in terms of deposits, the local banks show a significant increase in the main aggregates, with deposits up by 3% and those in current accounts by 4,5%. Among the positive performances of Credito Popolare, both in terms of credit and funding, we highlight those of Banca Popolare di Sondrio in the North and Popolare di Bari in the Center and South which particularly accompanies the recovery of the economy in the South.

Both Popolare di Sondrio and that of Bari show values ​​above 4% of the credit disbursed and an increase of over 6% on the side of current account deposits.

Again in 2017, Le Popolari then allocated approximately 100 million euros to communities and territories to support local initiatives in the fields of assistance, the promotion of culture, local events and public utility interventions.
