Generali appointment Giulio Terzariol at the helm of the new “Insurance” Division. In the midst of the 2022 battle for the governance of the Lion of Trieste, the name of the top insurance manager Giulio Terzariol had circulated as a possible CEO candidate on the list of Francesco Gaetano Caltagironand, as an alternative to that of the council which re-nominated Philippe Donnet. Today Terzariol becomes CEO of Generali's insurance activities, in an intermediate position between group CEO Philippe Donnet and general manager Marco Sesana. It's a top-notch appointment.
The Insurance CEO will have the task of coordinating the activities of the CEOs of Generali's insurance business units: Italy, DACH (Germany, Austria and Switzerland), France and Global Business Activities (which includes Europe Assistance and Global Business Lines) and International (which includes the CEE, Mediterranean & Latin America and Asia regions).
Giulio Terzariol joins Generali from Allianz
Terzariol, a 51-year-old Bocconian, originally from San Donà di Piave, and current chief financial officer of the German insurance giant Allianz, is coming to Trieste in earnest. His arrival had already been anticipated by some press rumors in recent days. Terzariol holds a degree in Business Economics from Bocconi University in Milan. He began his career in the insurance industry at Generali Versicherung in Munich and Vienna before joining Allianz SE in 1998. Terzariol held positions as Regional CFO of Allianz in Asia and North America before being promoted to Head of Group Planning in Germany in 2016. In 2018, Terzariol was appointed Group CEO and Member of the Board of Management of Allianz.
