Fincantieri - Naval Group: now it's about the military

“Next week I will return to Rome with the French defense minister who is handling this dossier to demonstrate the importance of the military industrial sector. Things are moving forward, there is cooperation from build in the naval sector which will give us the strength at European level to compete with other world players”.

With these words, the French Economy Minister, Bruno Le Maire, announces its imminent arrival in the capital within the framework of the Italy – France Forum with the aim of implementing the Fincantieri – Naval Group alliance and carrying forward phase two of the agreements: the one relating to the naval sector.

Le Maire also lets you know that regarding Stx, acquired last September by Fincantieri after a long negotiation between the governments of Italy and France, "things are proceeding at their own pace". We recall that, on the basis of what has been established, the Italian giant holds 50 percent of STX France, to which is added another one percent that the French government will lend to Fincantieri for a period of 12 years.

Having secured the civilian sector, now is therefore the time to think about the military. The aim is to carry forward the ambitious project relating to construction of a European naval giant, already called "Airbus of the seas" able to excel in construction, systems and services. The transalpine minister declared that the times for the closing will be "the right ones" to create a global giant in the naval sector.

In this context it should be noted the ride for the Fincantieri title in Piazza Affari. At mid-day, the shares rose by 4,79% to 1,51 euros, approaching the all-time high set in recent weeks at 1,53 euros. In fact, given the developments of the last year, the Italian group is an interested observer of the Italy-France forum from which very interesting developments are expected.
