Export of Made in Italy to China, now there is one more tool for companies. The E-Marco Polo project has started, a showcase for companies and
brands of our country that intend to operate in the Chinese market making use of partners of international importance in the field of e-commerce and leading financial institutions. “E-Marco Polo” is one of the private initiatives born following the “Memorandum of
Understanding“ signed by the Italian Government with the Alibaba Group to promote the “Made in Italy” on Tmall Global, one of the largest B2C e-commerce portals in the world, operating in a market worth 511 billion euros with an average annual growth of 34% from 2013 to 2015.
The E-Marco Polo (E-MP) project has as industrial partners the Cremonini Group, leader in the production and distribution of Food & Beverage products, the strategic consultancy company specialized in innovation and internationalization of companies The Cambridge
Management Consulting Labs (CMC Labs), and as financial partners Intesa Sanpaolo and UniCredit.
E-MP thus launches a B2C showcase of "end-to-end" services that allows Italian companies and brands to sell their products directly to Chinese consumers without having a physical presence in the country.
The company (E-Marco Polo SpA) will manage marketing initiatives to direct Tmall Global users towards the sales showcase of Italian food products and will act as "general contractor" with the suppliers who will manage the logistics services in China to support the processes of import, marketing, customer care, as well as brand-marketing strategies and actions.
Alibaba Group, founded in 1999, is the largest online and mobile ecommerce marketplace in the world, with a turnover of 485 billion dollars, over 10 million active sellers and 439 million active shoppers, while Tmall Global is the Alibaba Group platform launched in February 2014, dedicated to cross-border e-commerce, which provides for simplified customs clearance procedures and a preferential tax regime. Tmall Global today has more than 5.400 showcases of international companies and brands from over 25 countries, which can sell
directly to Chinese consumers without requiring a physical presence in the country.
