Prysmian strengthens its presence in the digital infrastructure market with a long-term agreement which could reach a total value of 5,5 billion eurosThe Italian group, specialized in cable systems for energy and telecommunications, will supply Molex with optical cables intended for internal connections of the data center.

The agreement, which will last up to ten years, also includes an upfront payment of €550 million. Molex is part of the privately held US group Koch and operates in the production of connectivity components and solutions.

Over 10 billion in new revenues by 2035

The agreement with Molex is part of a broader strategy by which Prysmian aims to meet the growing demand for data center infrastructure. The group is working on new agreements and commercial initiatives with hyperscalers and specialized operators, with the aim of generate over 10 billion euros in revenue by 2035 cumulative incremental compared to 2025 levels.

By 2031, these activities could add up to €1,1 billion in annual revenue. This outlook confirms the growing importance of digital business within Prysmian's industrial strategy, in a market driven by data center expansion and the need for increasingly faster and more reliable connections.

Investments of 1,25 billion and over a thousand hires

To support the new contracts, Prysmian will launch a production capacity enhancement plan dedicated to optical cables and fiber. The project will also include the production of glass preforms in plants located in the United States and Europe. The group will invest a total of 1,25 billion euros by 2031In the United States, fiber production capacity will more than double, consolidating Prysmian's position as one of only three US optical fiber and cable manufacturers. In Europe, the plan will strengthen the company's position as the only major domestic player in the sector.

Industrial expansion should also lead to the creation of more than a thousand new jobs globally, including approximately 600 in the United States.
