France, Macron responds to Le Pen's exploit by surprisingly dissolving Parliament and challenging the far right in the Government

France, Macron responds to Le Pen's exploit by surprisingly dissolving Parliament and challenging the far right in the Government

La France will return to the polls on June 30th and July 7th. It is the consequence of the dissolution of the national Parliament decided by the President Emmanuel Macron after the exploit of the far right of Marine Le Pen in the European elections where the far right became the leading party with 30%, doubling Macron's list. The President's surprise move is doubly clever because it loyally respects the popular orientation but at the same time challenges it on the ground of Government Le Pen who, in the second round of the national elections, will have to look for alliances to win and govern. In this way Macron hopes to deflate Le Pen's electoral success in view of the 2027 presidential elections where Macron will no longer be in the field but the center-left, among which the resurrection of the young socialists stands out Glucksman, he can play his cards if the alliance game works.

“France – declared Macron – needs a clear majority to act in serenity and harmony. The victory of the far right is not a good result for the parties that defend Europe. I give you back the choice of your future."
