Intesa Sanpaolo: major exhibitions and international projects at the Gallerie d'Italia in 2026

The exhibition calendar is characterised by large original projects, the result of rigorous scientific research and prestigious international collaborations, which confirm the role of Galleries of Italy as contemporary museums, inclusive and deeply connected to the themes of the present.

In Milan, the program kicks off with the photography exhibition Gianni Berengo Gardin

Giorgio Morandi's studio (January 28 – April 6, 2026), included in the widespread exhibition project Metaphysics/Metaphysical, curated by Vincenzo Trione. The project, which will also involve Palazzo Reale, the Grande Brera – Palazzo Citterio and the Museo del Novecento, aims to present Metaphysics as an artistic movement, cultural trend and poetic dimension capable of spanning the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. Also at Gallerie d'Italia in Milan, from 6 February 2026, on the occasion of the Milan Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games – of which Intesa Sanpaolo is Banking Premium Partner – an exhibition curated by Aldo Grasso will be presented, featuring a selection of photographs from the Publifoto Archive dedicated to the 1956 Cortina Winter Olympics. The images capture the atmosphere of the era and offer a unique insight into the years of Italy's first economic boom. Finally, starting May 29, the museum will celebrate the centenary of the birth of Arnaldo Pomodoro, in collaboration with the Arnaldo Pomodoro Foundation, bringing together works from the Foundation and the artist's works in the Intesa Sanpaolo collections.

In Turin, from 18 March 2026, the Gallerie d'Italia will host the exhibition Nick brandt

The Day May Break, which presents the entire trilogy of the British artist's ambitious photographic project, along with a new, previously unpublished chapter shot in Jordan on commission from Intesa Sanpaolo. The project focuses on the consequences of climate change on people and places, with portraits of Syrian refugee families—mostly farmers—forced to constantly move in search of climate conditions favorable to survival. As part of EXPOSED – International Photography Festival, from April 10th the exhibition of the American artist of Armenian origins will also be presented Diana Markosian, an intense reflection on the themes of memory, loss and identity.

In Naples, the first half of 2026 will be marked by a dialogue between archaeology and contemporaneity

From April 3rd, an exhibition will be inaugurated that connects the ceramics of the permanent collection of Attic and Magna Graecia vases of the Caputi Collection with the works of the contemporary artist Alexi Worth, highlighting the universality and timelessness of the messages expressed through clay. Following this, from May 6, 2026, a new project will be presented with Obey (Frank Shepard Fairey), famous American street artist also known for the poster Hope dedicated to Barack Obama. The third exhibition of Vitality of Time, dedicated to a new nucleus of works from Intesa Sanpaolo's modern and contemporary art collection.

In Vicenza, the collaboration with the Illustri Association continues

With the opening, from April 30th, of an exhibition dedicated to the themes of Big Data and Artificial Intelligence, interpreted through the humanistic and creative gaze of Georgia Lupi, one of the most authoritative information designers internationally. Describing herself as a data humanist, Lupi transforms numbers and graphs into works of art, opening spaces for dialogue and reflection on the relationship between technology, creativity, and humanity.

Intesa Sanpaolo's cultural mission

With this comprehensive program, the Gallerie d'Italia reaffirms its cultural mission: to enhance its collections, promote research, address major contemporary issues, and strengthen dialogue with local communities, confirming its position as one of the leading museum and cultural centers in Italy and Europe.
